Towards Carbon Neutral Tourism
Towards Carbon Neutral Tourism
UNDP’s project Towards Carbon Neutral Tourism adopts a comprehensive approach to minimizing the carbon footprint of Montenegro’s main and most dynamic economic sector, the tourism. Its ultimate objective is to reduce GHG emissions from Montenegro’s tourism sector. It will do so by promoting country’s transition towards a carbon neutral travel & tourism, minimizing energy use and transport in and around new green-field development projects, helping tourism industry to identify and implement cost-effective mitigation options in travel and accommodation sectors, as well as introducing carbon offset scheme and other innovative financial mechanisms to compensate for the residual emissions and generate additional revenues for climate mitigation and adaptation actions in tourism.
Propulsion Fund was in charge of creating 2 videos that promote not only carbon neutral travel and tourism, but also Montenegro’s amazing natural beauty. The first video aimed to show the natural beauty of Montenegro, whereas the second video, as a part of the campaign “Turn off the engine”, motivates the citizens and tourists to turn off the engine on their vehicles while not driving (e.g. waiting on the border, traveling on a ferry etc.). Videos were filmed with high quality equipment like cameras and drones that were shooting attractive sights from the air. When editing and storytelling, Fund was using a modern approach with fast, attractive editing and jump cuts. As the videos were narrated in a friendly yet persuasive tone, all of the messages were clearly communicated.
